Design Classes.

I worked on these projects in a Design Methods class at Indiana University. We used our developing design skills at the time in a more Graphic Design-focused way to present what we created. We studied different design concepts to better our understanding when creating in the future. This class is what single handedly gave me the very particular but good Graphic Design skills that I have now. At the time it seemed annoyingly meticulous, however, as I've grown as a designer, I realized that it was so crucial to the development of my core skills as a designer.

Post-Occupancy Evaluation

My partner and I reviewed a classroom in Kirkwood Hall at Indiana University. We performed interviews and a survey to researched problems in our given room. We then suggested different things that could be done to the room based off of different time-frames.

Ergonomic Study of Task Chairs

I studied three ergonomic task chairs: Mirra 2 and Aeron by Herman Miller and The Zody by Haworth. The different aspects of the chairs were inspected and then evaluated.

Wayfinding

This project shows a typical route taken by students and how the design principle of wayfinding is used throughout that route. This design principle is based on those laid out in "Universal Principles of Design" written by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler.

Mapping

This project shows how the design principle of mapping is used in unorthodox ways. I learned through this project that design is all around us and affects everything we create. This design principle is based on those laid out in "Universal Principles of Design" written by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler.

An Application of A Pattern Language

Through studying the book "An Application of A Pattern Language" by Christopher Alexander, Sara Ishikawa, and Murray Silverstein I improved the Master Bathroom of a provided space.

Proxemics

Taking examples from the TV show, Friends, I gave examples of different proxemic zones.

Defensible Space

Examples from Indiana University helped me show the different levels of defensible space.

Universal Principles of Design

Universal Design is the design of products and environments to be usable by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without adaptation or specialized design. Using previous knowledge and information from The National Center On Accessibility I created a presentation all about Universal Design with examples from Indiana University.

Understanding the Process and Profession

In this project, I did extensive research on how the Interior Design career works and what it entails. Also included is information on various Design Organizations and other background information on the career.

Environment-Behavior Studies

The design principles of affordance and constraints are seen every day throughout all of our lives. In this project I found examples to show how these worked in both good and bad ways. These design principles are based on those laid out in "Universal Principles of Design" written by William Lidwell, Kritina Holden, and Jill Butler.
